SCHOOLS

The PAV group have begun an education programme which involves the police and community representatives going into local schools to inform our local young people about the destructive effects of graffiti and vandalism and how they can lead the charge against it in their community.

Particular emphasis is put on the peer culture that often exists which can lead young people into situations they would never normally contemplate. Students have been able to use the education programs to improve their relationship with local police by discussing the benefits of cooperating to produce positive outcomes for everyone.

The education program also focuses on highlighting the benefits of the police's $100 reward system for those who help convict local perpetrators of criminal activity. Many young people are now aware of how easy it is to report offences once they have witnessed them.
